Tennesee Volunteers guard Zakai Zeigler will miss the rest of the 2022-23 college basketball season after suffering a torn ACL. The injury occurred in the team’s 75-57 victory on Tuesday night against the Arkansas Razorbacks. After he went down, he was helped off the court and did not return to the game. An MRI confirmed the injury on Wednesday. The 12th-ranked Volunteers have NCAA Championship aspirations and now without Zeigler, those dreams could be dashed. He is one of the team’s best offensive and defensive players this season. The sophomore will focus on his recovery and likely return to the program next season.
Tennessee point guard Zakai Zeigler has suffered a torn ACL and is done for the season, school announces.
Crushing for Zeigler and also a Vols team that struggles to score with its best shot creator.

The Tennessee Volunteers will now have to play their final regular season game against the Auburn Tigers, the 2023 SEC Tournament, and the 2023 NCAA Tournament without their star sophomore guard Zakai Zeigler. While the team was considered a top contender for the SEC title and NCAA title, that may no longer be the case. Time will tell on how the team rallies without one of its best players. They responded strongly against Arkansas without him.
one thing we know for sure— there is no keeping Zakai Zeigler down

This season with the Tennessee Volunteers, Zakai Zeigler averaged 10.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and two steals per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 37.5 percent and a three-point percentage of 31.1 percent. We here at Def Pen Sports wish Zeigler the best in his recovery and eventual return to the court.
