Zach LaVine will be one of the most intriguing players to watch next season. Now on the Chicago Bulls, LaVine will be tasked with being one of the few bright young players on a team looking to rebuild through tanking. Moreover, LaVine will be returning from an ACL tear that ended his 2016-17 season prematurely.
Known for his limitless athleticism, it will be interesting to see if he can bounce back from the injury. While there is no way of truly knowing right now, reports indicate that LaVine may be just fine as he is currently reported to return at the All-Star break.
Following via ESPN’s Nick DePaula:
There’s no timetable just yet for LaVine’s return to action this season. He has been progressing steadily all summer in his rehab, with no worries that he’ll be able to return to the athleticism that has become a hallmark of his game. Weeks ago, the Bulls were looking to analyze his progress to date, putting LaVine through a series of drills and tests. His standing vertical leap tested higher than even his pre-draft measurements, according to a league source.
LaVine measured at a 33.5 inch no-step vertical at the 2014 NBA Draft Combine.
Whether that will translate to explosiveness in games remains to be seen but this is a great sign for LaVine’s promising future in the league.
