From their work on The Carmichael Show to Moonlight, A24 has always been known to push boundaries in all of their work. However, casting Kid Cudi as a 1970s pornstar is new territory. Yes, you read that correctly. Shortly after positioning Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi as DJ Chello in Don’t Look Up, A24 has cast Mescudi as a leading character in what some critics are describing as “Boogie Nights meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”
Directed by Ti West, X follows the story of a production crew and cast working on pornography in the 1970s. In the course of their work, they go searching for a place to film and find a small cabin for rent on an isolated farm. Things seem to be going alright until they’re not. What the cast and crew uncover is a haunted area with sadistic landowner and his wife.
Starring Mia Goth, Brittany Snow, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi and Jenna Ortega, X will hit theaters this March. Before that date rolls around, check out the trailer below.
