Woodstock 50 is filing a lawsuit against its main investor Dentsu for sabotage and theft.
Reported by TMZ, Woodstock 50 claims that Dentsu “blindsided them last week when it said they were pulling out, claiming safety concerns.” The investor allegedly took $17.8 million.
Last week, there were reports circulating that Woodstock 50, which is set to take place in August, was canceled. But organizers of the event denied the rumors, ensuring that the event is still set to go on. The festival is slated to have JAY-Z, Chance the Rapper, The Killers, and more as performers.
According to TMZ, Woodstock 50 says Dentsu tried to stop the festival from happening. The lawsuit claims that a number of agents of performers were contacted. The agents of performers were not specified but are alluded to possibly being performers like JAY-Z, Miley Cyrus, and Carlos Santana.
In addition, the lawsuit states that Dentsu informed agents and performers that the festival was canceled. They “implied to them that they’d try to get them a spot at a 2020 Olympics event … which Dentsu is sponsoring.”
The festival is suing and hoping to recover the $17.8 million stolen.
