Last season, the Washington Wizards went to both Baltimore and Brazil in the preseason, but will stay around the league this time around.
The preseason will begin for the Wizards when they welcome Philadelphia to Verizon Center on October 6 for their opening action.
There will be no Baltimore classic as there had been the past two seasons, but Brazil’s Bauru will be visiting Verizon Center on October 11 to take on the Wiz. Nene, starting power forward in Washington, is from Brazil, which brings a lot of additional attention from Brazilian fans to the games Washington has incorporated Brazil in some way.
The preseason wraps up with a game in Miami against a Heat team that will be very challenging for the upcoming season, followed by a game against the Raptors, which is a rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
It doesn’t really matter who Washington was playing this preseason, but it’s just an opportunity for the fans to begin to get ready for the upcoming season. The Wizards are one of the many teams competing for the second seed in the Eastern Conference, which means a lot of hype is already stirring in the city.
