Wiz hadn’t dropped a new album since 2014’s Blacc Hollywood. Over the summer, Wiz released a surprise EP, Pre-Rolleds, while fans waited for the much delayed album.
In September, Wiz began dropping more heat. He dropped a video for the “Something New” single with Ty Dolla $ign. Later that month, a Wiz and PARTYNEXTDOOR song called “Rain,” dedicated to the strip clubs, was leaked. It is safe to say those two will appear on either the mixtape or album.
The first Rolling Papers album by Wiz released in 2011. It included the hits “Black and Yellow,” “On My Level” featuring Too Short and “Roll Up.” Wiz saw enormous success with “Black and Yellow” becoming the unofficial Pittsburgh Steelers anthem. “Black and Yellow” peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
Wiz reached the number one spot again in 2015 with “See You Again.” The song was the third single from the Furious 7 soundtrack, an album Wiz was featured on twice.
When asked why he’s releasing Laugh Now, Fly Later by a fan, Wiz had this to say:
Bosses need something to smoke and think to. Time to start this wave. https://t.co/fvxkMgXM12
