Godfather of Harlem is simply one of the best shows on television and it’s hard to say otherwise. Led by Forest Whittaker and Vincent D’Onofrio, the series tells the story of Bumpy Johnson and Harlem during the 1960s. Beyond the incredible storytelling and veteran cast, the series shines because of the work of Swizz Beatz. Each and every season, he puts together original music that perfectly compliments the show. Thus far, he’s tapped DMX, Rick Ross, Nick Grant, Cordae, Jidenna and several others to create music for the show. This week, he called on two fellow New Yorkers, Westside Gunn and Fabolous.
As Sunday nears, Swizz Beatz and EPIX have rolled out the newest addition to the Godfather of Harlem soundtrack, “Brick After Brick” featuring Fabolous and Westside Gunn. As the song title and lineup suggest, this song has incredible production, tons of drug references and a high level of lyricism.
