The DeAndre Jordan situation became a big mess in a matter of 12 hours on Wednesday. Emojis were getting tweeted, the hilarious pictures were being shared and the rumors of a billionaire seemingly stalking DeAndre Jordan’s house ran rampant.
Now that the dust has settled and DeAndre Jordan has decided to not join the Dallas Mavericks but will instead remain with the Los Angeles Clippers, it’s time to reward those who stayed true to their verbal agreements.
Wesley Matthews might be coming off a horrible achilles injury but that won’t stop the Dallas Mavericks from paying him what he deserves.
Following from David Aldridge of Turner Sports and NBA.com.
With DeAndre Jordan going back to the Clippers, Wes Matthews's deal with Dallas goes from 4/$57M to a max deal: 4 years, $70M, per source.

That would have happened if Jordan had initially opted 2 stay in L.A. Matthews took less in order 4 Jordan to come. That changed, obviously.

Matthews will cash in by staying with the team despite Mavs owner Mark Cuban giving him the ability to leave if he so chose to do. Staying with Dallas looks good for Wes and the Mavs who are desperate for a good move to come their way after the Jordan fiasco.
Wes joined the Mavs with the promise of DeAndre joining as well and they both wanted to play together. Apparently DeAndre didn’t want to play with Wes that bad because he decided to stay with the Clippers and leave Matthews all alone as the prize free agent signing for the Mavericks this summer.
The Mavs still have some cap room to play with after Wes agrees to his deal and the Mavs finalize their deal with former Milwaukee Bucks big man Zaza Pachulia. The Mavs might be looking to offer Deron Williams whatever is left after those moves, if Williams does hit the free agency market.
