Since stepping out of his deal with Atlantic earlier this year, Wale seems to have come away a better, more focused man. Over the last few months, it could be argued that no one in music is working harder than Wale. Wale has released freestyle after freestyle, new videos, two projects and more. Still, he is nowhere close to being done or satisfied with his work. As he prepares to drop his new project, Free Lunch, Wale has dropped off a collaboration with his friend and Dreamville CEO, J. Cole.
Their new collaboration features J. Cole and Wale going bar for bar similar to their performances on “Winter Schemes” five years ago. On the track, both emcees do not hold back and go for broke. Wale raps, “These n*ggas don’t be no gangster, they be playing it, extortion ain’t dead, it just moved to the county.” J. Cole raps, “Stepped in the building with my vibe on a million/Slide on a beat like ‘my god I’m so brilliant/All other rappers put your pride to the side/Try collide with the squad, turn your mob into corn on the cob/You a fraud, you a thorn in my side.” Check out the new single and be sure to stay tuned for Wale’s next project, Free Lunch.
