If art is a reflection of life, “Blanco” by Wale is a heartfelt diary entry.
Produced by Red Vision, “Blanco” is a downtempo dive into Wale’s inner thoughts and insecurities as he attempts to drown them with a bottle of tequila. Wale has never been one to shy away from sharing his thoughts and feelings through his music, but “Blanco” stands apart as a conversation starter heading into his next album. If “Blanco” is any indication of what’s to come, Wale’s next album will likely be conversational in tone and vulnerable in nature as he examines the vices he’s used to cope with the hardships of life.
“I woke up at like 4 in the morning. [I] went to bed at like 4 in the morning. [I] was in the club for an hour or something. I was up like 48 of them” he raps.
“Blanco” is the latest step toward getting a new body of work from Wale. In October 2023, he announced that he was signing with Def Jam and released a single called “Max Julien.” Nearly a year later, he returned to release “Mission Statement” and “Ghetto Speak” with T-Minus. Then, he embarked on the Every Blue Moon Tour. Now, it appears he’s gearing up for a summer album release. Until more is learned about his next album, check out Wale’s new single, “Blanco,” below.
