Good things come to those who wait. Not long ago, Vince Staples appeared on Real Late with Peter Rosenberg and offered a bit of background information regarding his upcoming album, Ramona Park Broke My Heart. Most notably, he said that the project would drop before his performance during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
“Yeah, it’s going to be around Coachella next month. Yeah, definitely. [It’s called] Ramona Park Broke My Heart. [It has] 16 songs, a couple of features. It’s the longest album that I really ever did,” he told Rosenberg.
“I would probably say it’s my most complete [album] to this day. You know a lot of my work has [functioned] as an anthology of my neighborhood and my past. I think this is kind of the end of that for me. I’m not 18 years old. I’m not 19 years old. I’m not 20 years old [anymore]. I’m 28 years old.”
Weeks later, Vince Staples has continued to roll out the forthcoming project track by track. This time around, he offers the Serena “Rose Street” video. Produced by Saint Mino and Tommy Parker, the track has a early 2000s feel as the Long Beach native raps about his past.
“She said she in love, what’s that?/Trust, what’s that?/Us, what’s that? Yeah/I’m married to the gang, don’t be playing games/Only bringing flowers to the homie’s grave,” he raps.
“Rose Street” sets the stage for Ramona Park Broke My Heart, which is set to drop on April 8, 2022. Check out Vince Staples’ latest music video below.
