Initially, Fast X was set to be the final film in the Fast & Furious franchise. However, the saga’s final chapter was ultimately extended from one film to three films. Now, it appears that the final film chapter of the box office saga will lead to more films. During a recent interview, Fast X star Vin Diesel said that there are multiple Fast & Furious spinoffs in the works.
“I started developing the female spin-off…in 2017 with other spin-offs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spin-offs,” Diesel said.
At the moment, it’s unclear who exactly will return for the aforementioned spinoff projects. With that said, it’s become somewhat clear that longtime Fast & Furious star Michelle Rodriguez will look to move on from the franchise when the last two or three films hit theaters.
“You pass the baton on,” she said when asked about the possibility of returning for a spinoff film.
“When it comes to the next generation, you have to. It’s the only way to let them define the future.”
The Fast & Furious franchise is not unfamiliar with spinoff films. In 2019, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham starred in Hobbs & Shaw. Not to mention, there was an animated series called Spy Racers that hit Netflix.
