When Reggie Jackson was a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder to start the 2014-15 season, the backup point guard wanted a role change desperately. He wanted to be the leader of his own team and staying in Oklahoma City wasn’t going to be the answer to his problem.
Jackson was dealt to the Detroit Pistons and since the midseason move last year, Jackson has done nothing but shine in his new role. Reggie got rewarded for his progression, garnering a new contract as well as the Pistons putting full trust in his skills, sending former starting point guard Brandon Jennings to the Magic. It’s Reggie Jackson’s team to run now.
Despite Jackson’s success, he has his share of people who aren’t exactly ecstatic to see his success. One of those people could be Russell Westbrook, considering in their last matchup Westbrook responded with ‘who?’ when he was asked about Jackson.
Last night, after the Thunder benched both Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka, the Pistons got a big home win to solidify their position in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Despite Jackson’s lackluster performance, the Pistons still won and Reggie celebrated towards the end of the game.
Jackson celebrated, the Pistons won and Russell Westbrook walked off the court in disgust. And then back in the locker room, Westbrook wasn’t exactly pleased with Jackson’s celebration.

And Westbrook wasn’t the only one who didn’t enjoy Jackson’s antics. Thunder center Steven Adams, who was seen chatting with Jackson during a late Aron Baynes free throw, says that Reggie’s actions say a lot about his character.

This part of the drama is over for now and we most likely won’t get to experience another chapter in this saga until next season but this should be something to look forward to in future matchups between these two high energy guards.
