After being heavily criticized for lip-syncing at the inauguration, Beyonce took the opportunity to prove her vocal abilities to those who doubted them and surprised the press at the official Superbowl press conference with the National Anthem. After she was done singing, she laughed: “Any questions?”
When asked about the back tracking use, she explained:
I am a perfectionist. And one thing about me, I practice until my feet bleed. The inauguration was about the President. I wanted to make him and the country proud,” she continued. “I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is something that is common in the music industry. I always sing live. The inauguration was unfortunately a time when I didn’t have time to rehearse with the the orchestra, because I was rehearsing for the Super Bowl. I’m very proud of my performance.
…if she’ll sing live at the Super Bowl:
I will absolutely be singing live. I am well-rehearsed.
… when she’ll go on tour:
I would say soon and I may have an announcement after the performance.
She wouldn’t give any details about a possible Destiny’s Child reunion at the Superbowl and whether she will perform at the Grammys.
