On Sunday, October 20, Vice President Kamala Harris celebrated her 60th birthday in Atlanta, Georgia. Alongside her running mate, Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic Party’s nominee for President brought her “Souls to the Polls” initiative to the southern metropolis as she hopes to curry favor in one of the most hotly contested states in the upcoming election.
During her time in Atlanta, she held a rally at the Lakewood Amphitheater and received a special surprise from the legendary singer, Usher. After walking on to stage as “No Mo’ Play in GA” by Pastor Troy burst through the speakers, the eight-time GRAMMY Award winner explained why he’s supporting Harris in the upcoming election.
“It doesn’t matter where you’re from she has a vision for our country that includes everyone,” Usher said.
“She has a vision that supports small business, invests in our health and our communities and gives everyone a chance to get ahead.”
Usher is not the only GRAMMY Award winner to lend their support to the Vice President. On Saturday, Lizzo joined Harris at a rally in Michigan.
“I’m so proud to be from this city, you know they say if Kamala wins then the whole country will be like Detroit,” Lizzo told the crowd.
“Proud like Detroit, resilient like Detroit. The same Detroit that innovated the auto industry and the music industry. Put some respect on Detroit’s name.”
Harris will continue to make her way through Michigan and Georgia in the upcoming week. She is schedule to rally alongside former President Barack Obama on October 24 and former First Lady Michelle Obama on October 26.
