Entertainment mogul Tyler Perry will be honored with the Ultimate Icon award during the 2019 BET Awards.
The award recognizes Perry for his contributions to cultural impact. From his screenplays to feature films and every television show in between, Tyler Perry’s work has become a recognizable brand. Most know for his iconic “Madea” character, an elderly southern Black woman played by Perry himself, Tyler Perry continued to expand his talents.
Now, owner of the 330-acre Tyler Perry studios, he not only tells the stories important to him but provides a place for creative endeavors to come to life.
