The Los Angeles Rams will be without tight end Tyler Higbee in Super Bowl LVI due to an MCL sprain he suffered in the 2022 NFC Championship game. There was some hope he would be able to play, but on Friday the team placed him on injured reserve ending that hope. Missing out on the Super Bowl is a devastating thing for a player to experience and even more so when they got hurt just one game prior to the big game.
The #Rams officially activated RB Darrell Henderson and NT Sebastian Joseph-Day from Injured Reserve… but placed TE Tyler Higbee and OT Joseph Noteboom on IR. Both are out for Sunday.

With Tyler Higbee not playing in the game, Matthew Stafford loses out on a valuable target he has used all season. Backup tight end Kendall Blanton is expected to receive most of the snaps at tight end during Super Bowl LVI. Both teams had their starting tight ends go down in the championship games. While the Bengals still have hope that C.J. Uzomah can play, the Rams have lost the hope that their starting tight end will.

In the regular season, Higbee recorded 61 catches for 560 yards and five touchdowns. The postseason saw him catch nine passes for 115 yards and no touchdowns. Matthew Stafford has relied on the tight end in key moments when defenses manage to cover both Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr. While injuries are unfortunate hopefully he can properly recover heading into the NFL offseason. We here at Def Pen Sports wish him the best moving forward into the offseason.
