Twitter is diving into the world of podcasting with its latest feature. With its latest update, Twitter is introducing “Stations” hubs for users. Under the hub, users can access live and recorded spaces that are grouped together by topics such as news, music, movies, etc. Alongside live and recorded spaces, “Stations” will also feature some of the most popular podcasts today. From there, users can give a thumbs up or down to the podcasts suggests by topic.
“This redesign introduces personalized hubs that group audio content together by specific themes like News, Music, Sports, and more. Now Twitter listeners will be able to easily access a more personalized selection of live and recorded Spaces discussing the topics that are most relevant to them,” Twitter stated in a blog post.
“But the selection doesn’t stop there. These new hubs will also feature the most popular and engaging podcasts from around the world. Our internal research indicates that 45% of people who use Twitter in the US also listen to podcasts monthly, so we’ll automatically suggest compelling podcasts to help people easily find and listen to the topics they want to hear more about. For example, if someone regularly interacts with Vox content on Twitter, they’ll probably see a Vox podcast in a Spaces hub.”
Adding podcasts to the “Stations” feature is part of Twitter’s long-term plan to create an “all-in-one, personalized audio destination.” The app’s newest feature is currently available to users via the mobile app as of August 25, 2022. At this time, there is no word as to when the podcast feature will be added to the desktop version of the popular social media platform.
