Former President Donald Trump may have moved down to the Sunshine State, but he’s elected to return to the cold and snow of his home state, New York, for a court hearing on Thursday, February 15.
“President Trump will be attending court in New York on Thursday,” attorney Steve Sadow stated.
In the Empire State, Trump will face 34 counts of falsifying business records connected to alleged payments he made to former adult film star Stephanie “Stormy Daniels” Clifford during the 2016 election cycle. The former reality show host has plead not guilty to all charges and has attempted to dismiss the case. On Thursday, New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan will address Trump’s attorney’s attempts to dismiss the case as it nears a proposed trial start date in March.
Trump is also the subject of an election interference trial in Georgia. On Thursday, Judge Scott McAfee will claims of misconduct involving Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade brought forth by Trump and one of his co-defendants. McAfee said it’s “possible” Willis could be prevented from prosecuting the case if he finds that special prosecutor Nathan Wade financially benefited from their personal relationship. Despite accusations brought forth in recent months, Willis maintains that Wade didn’t financially benefit from their relationship.
“District Attorney Willis has no financial conflict of interest that constitutes a legal basis for disqualification,” a statement from Willis’ office reads.
“District Attorney Willis has no personal conflict of interest that justifies her disqualification personally or that of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.”
At the end of the week, Judge Arthur Engoron is also expected to deliver a verdict regarding a civil case involving Trump Enterprises. Trump Enterprises is accused of inflating financial statements to boost its net worth. Trump has denied all claims of wrongdoing involving the civil case.
