MLB star Tim Anderson gave away more than 200 turkeys to those in need in his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Tuesday, November 22.
“We loved giving back to our Tuscaloosa families yesterday! 205 turkeys distributed just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday,” Anderson stated.
“We are thankful for everyone who had a hand in putting on another successful Turkey drive this year!
Hillcrest High School, South’s Finest Meats, Reynolds Sports, Custom By Trade, SoxTV — we couldn’t have done it without you.”
Anderson’s annual holiday meal giveaway was hosted by his nonprofit organization, League of Leaders. Created following the shooting death of Tuscaloosa area native, Branden Moss, League of Leaders strives to “build leadership skills in youth affected by violence.”
“The purpose of Anderson’s League of Leaders is to build leadership characteristics within the youth of the community, especially in circumstances associated with violence (domestic, gang, and guns),” a statement from the organization’s website reads.
“Through aid, service, scholarship, and mentorship, Anderson’s League of Leaders aspires to bring positivity, safety, and unity to the community.”
