The Tomb Raider Reboot Has Wrapped Principal Photography.
The Tomb Raider reboot starring Alicia Vikander has wrapped initial production. The reboot is said to be more closely based on the newest incarnation of the Tomb Raider games. The newest games are much more in line with the Uncharted series than the original somewhat campy PlayStation 1 and 2 games. The new games have received rave reviews from critics and fans alike sparking renewed interest in reviving the film franchise. Alicia Vikander is taking over for Angelina Jolie in the starring role as Lara Croft. From the initial casting alone it shows a tonal shift in what the series aims to accomplish. While Alicia Vikander is certainly not an unknown actress, its massive departure from the mega star of Angelina Jolie. Who at the time of the original film was one of, if not the biggest get in Hollywood. If the film is truly set to take a more serious tone than the initial films in the franchise. This series could be one that breaks the video game film glass ceiling and gains massive mainstream non-game fan related following.
