Have you ever wondered what Sacha Baron Cohen would be like in a uber-serious spy drama? Well, wonder no more because that’s exactly what we’re getting in Netflix’s The Spy.
The streamer released a new trailer for the mini-series on Tuesday also revealing a release date of September 6th. In The Spy, Cohen portrays the real-life Israeli spy, Eli Cohen. The man went deep undercover in Syria in the 1960s, collecting intelligence for years on behalf of the Israeli government.

Netflix is having a pretty big week when it comes to their originals. Tuesday saw them drop trailers for both The King and their revival of Top Boy. We also saw the announcement of limited theatrical runs for Netflix original films such as The Irishman, The Laundromat, and Dolemite is My Name.
Back to Cohen though. He’s dabbled with serious roles before in films such as Les Misérables and Hugo. But, he’s best known for playing over the top raunchy characters in films like Borat, Brüno, and Talladega Nights.
The Spy hits Netflix worldwide on September 6th.
