Issa Rae and her record label, Raedio, have formed a new partnership with Crissles and Kid Fury of The Read. With this deal, the podcast duo will create an original comedy album. The album will “pair original commentary from the dynamic duo on historic pop culture moments alongside original music from today’s most prolific artists.”
“I have been a fan of Crissle and Kid Fury for almost a decade now and The Read has been my weekly comfort food,” Rae said.
“I can’t wait for everyone to experience their brilliant comedic commentary in such a specially-curated, timeless format.”
Much like Issa Rae, Crissles and Kid Fury found their success and built their fanbase through the internet. Over the course of eight years, the duo has taken their podcast to new heights with nationwide tours, television deals and more. Their latest deal with Raedio will expand The Read‘s brand into new territory and possibly earn them a GRAMMY nod.
“Working with Benoni, Issa and the Raedio team was a natural decision because we have been immense mutual supporters for our entire digital careers,” Crissles and Kid Fury added.
“A comedy album is new territory for us, but Raedio has been instrumental in helping us develop the vision for this project and collaborating with them has been exciting and such a joy. We’re excited to break new ground and give our fans new ways to tune in and engage with us.”
Their debut comedy album is expected to be released this summer.
