The Purge: Election Year trailer shows the masses of US citizens exercising their civic duties in all of their purging glory. The trailer reveals the return of Frank Grilo as Sergeant Leo Barnes from The Purge: Anarchy. Barnes is the head of security for President-hopeful Senator Charlene Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), who survived the purge but saw her entire family slaughtered in the process.
Election Year takes place two years after the second installment and will have Barnes trying to protect Roan on the streets of Washington, D.C. during the purge. This third installment was directed by James DeMonaco and also stars Mykelti Williamson, Edwin Hodge, Kyle Secor and Joseph Julian Sora.
The timing of this installment comes as fitting since we’re in the heat of the Presidential race.
Get your bats and masks ready for when The Purge: Election Year hits theaters on July 1.
