Universal has set a release date for their upcoming film, The Photograph. Starring Insecure‘s Issa Rae and Atlanta‘s Lakeith Stanfield, the new movie will be released on Valentine’s Day next year. The film will focus on “intertwining love stories in the past and present.” Rae will play the role of Mae and it is unclear what role Stanfield will play at the moment.
In addition to Rae and Stanfield, the cast will include Chante Adams, Lil Rel Howery and Y’Lan Noel. Other cast members include Chelsea Peretti, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Jasmine Cephas Jones, Teyonah Parris, Courtney B. Vance, Rob Morgan, and Kingsley Ben-Adir. Ben-Adir will reportedly play the role of Rae’s ex-boyfriend. The film is being written by Stella Meghie and Will Packer is producing alongside James Lopez. Rae and Meghie will also act as executive producers.
In the meantime, Rae will continue to promote the release of her latest film, Little. She also is set to be the lead in a new film called American Princess. Not to mention, there’s a new season of Insecure on the way. Meanwhile, Stanfield is working through a delayed release of Atlanta‘s third season.
