Last week on The Good Place Janet and Jason sorted out their feelings and decided to go on a date. Meanwhile, Michael finally got his chance to fix the point system with a new trial Good Place set up in Mindy St. Claire’s Medium Place. However, Shawn shows up to taunt him and leaves him incapable as the new humans arrive in the trial Good Place. Eleanor steps up immediately and this week picks up there.
Eleanor tells the new arrival that she is the architect of the neighborhood and starts to give him the tour. Within no time at all, Eleanor has embraced her role as the fake architect before a problem arises. Tahani recognizes the new arrival as a blogger who constantly trolled her when she was alive, and dead as he mocked her for dying in Canada. Just as they realize the humans being sent to them are meant to upset them and cause the plan to fail, Chidi’s ex Simone shows up.
Michael erases her memory and Judge Gen allows her to stay for the trial. Eleanor then continues her role as the fake architect by showing Simone around the neighborhood. Chidi is convinced his knowledge of their history will ruin the experiment and resolves that the only way forward is for Michael to erase his memory too. Eleanor tries to convince him otherwise but she can’t so the two spend one last night together.
Eleanor is upset but knows they have found each other hundreds of times before and she’s convinced they’ll do it again. The next day, she asks Janet for answers but, for once, Janet doesn’t have any for her. Eleanor decides to face this new challenge head-on and embrace the pandemonium. The episode ends as she opens the door to Michael’s office to find Chidi, but as he was already ‘reset’ he doesn’t recognize her.
