Unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock for the past couple of weeks, you’ll notice that the 8th instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise, the Fate of the Furious, has soured to the top of the box office and continues to climb. For those of us that have been with the franchise since its first movie 16 years ago, it will be somber news to hear that the they will be ending the series after its 10th installment.
During an interview with Collider magazine, Fate of the Furious producer Neal Moritz discussed the plans they have for the franchise:
“We kind of have the ending point of the franchise, but we don’t know the in-betweens yet… Yeah, the plan is to make two more movies. That’s just all of us kind of putting our heads together and coming together with something that we think is very special.”
The Fate of the Furious has already racked up $532.5 million dollars this weekend at the box office worldwide and with 2 movies to follow, they’re going to continue on their successful path. To be fair, the Fast & Furious had a great run and own the record for opening weekend and longest movie franchise. How does that saying go? Quit while you’re up?
