This fall, a major change will be made at Power 105.1 in New York, New York. After more than a decade of memorable interviews, Angela Yee will say goodbye to The Breakfast Club. Yee has revealed that she will be leaving the popular morning and hosting her own show at Power 105.1.
“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement to have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a brand-new show,” Angela Yee told Tony M. Centeno of iHeartRadio.
“I appreciate everyone who has helped to make this happen at iHeartMedia, and most importantly, the listeners who are like family to me. It’s a bittersweet feeling to leave an iconic show like The Breakfast Club.”
As Angela Yee ventures off on her solo radio journey, the show will move forward with Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy. During a recent interview, Charlamagne Tha God openly discussed Yee’s departure.
“I’m not going away. Envy is not going away. Angela Yee can’t be replaced, but we are a club. So that club has to expand and we’re going to bring in new members,” he told Tanay Hudson.
Within the last few weeks, the rumor mill has suggested that Remy Ma may fill Yee’s seat. However, The Breakfast Club may be looking to add more than one new host.
“Are there going to be new members in The Breakfast Club? Yes,” Charlamagne Tha God explained to Hudson.
“I don’t think it’s gonna be one person. It might be two.”
It’s unclear when Yee will officially transition from her duties with The Breakfast Club into her new role. When that day comes, listeners will be eagerly awaiting to see who will fill her shoes.
