More than 40 years ago, the legend of the The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was born. Led by Tobe Hooper, the film was made on a six-figure budget and quickly brought in $30 million at the box office. Not to mention, it spawned a number of different films, sparked discussions about violence against women in horror films and much more. Nearly 50 years later, the horror franchise is back with the help of Legendary Pictures and filmmaker David Blue Garcia.
Kicking off the week, Netflix has shared the first trailer for the upcoming horror flick revival. Based on characters created by Hooper, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre brings a harrowing story of violence and destruction to a new audience like never before.
“After nearly 50 years of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorize a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town,” the film’s description reads.
The latest edition of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will arrive on February 18, 2022. Check out the trailer below.
