Over the weekend, SZA made her way across the pond for a live show at Hyde Park. During her set, the New Jersey native asked her fans a fairly simply question.
“New album, are you ready?” she asked before launching into the performance of an unreleased song.
Shortly after taking the stage overseas, SZA shared a short clip of the track with an additional note.
“I know you told stories about me. [M]ost of them [are] awful. All of them true. Here’s some for [you],” she added.
While the performance was well received by the crowd, fans online remain cautiously optimistic about the possibility of hearing new music from the GRAMMY Award winner.
“I’m not sure I trust SZA anymore,” one fan wrote.
“We are. But is the album ready?” another fan asked.
“She just lied to them so hard,” one more fan added for good measure.
Fans of the popular singer are a bit pessimistic about the release of new music from the fan favorite because of past delays. In 2019, SZA told fans that her sophomore album would be coming “soon as f—k.” However, S.O.S, her best-selling sophomore album, didn’t drop until the end of 2022. More recently, fans were hoping her next project, LANA, would drop at the end of 2023. Instead, she scrapped the idea and opted to remake the project from scratch after several songs were leaked.
