On the surface, it may appear to some that SZA has been quiet over the last year or so. However, that is not the case. The New Jersey native has been active and making noise. Earlier this month, SZA was nominated for her work on the Black Panther soundtrack. In addition, she’s also nominated for an Academy Award this Sunday. Not to mention, she’s performed across the globe over the past year. During her most recent show, SZA teased fans with a little something out of the ordinary.
SZA has never been one to rush her creative process, but she premiered some new music this weekend. While performing at the Ill Points Music Festival in Wynwood, SZA did a short cover of “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer. The new cover excited her fans so much that one fan commented, ” If she records this for the new album, I’d lose my sh*t.”
With Isaiah Rashad, Schoolboy Q and Reason all working on new projects, it’s unlikely that we’d go an entire year without another new feature from the nine time Grammy Award nominee. However, it’s still very unclear when we’ll get a new project from SZA. In the meantime, enjoy her new cover of “Kiss Me”.
