Sony has a lot of projects in the works with its announced Spider-Man spinoff universe. Will any of them come to fruition? I’m not too sure. However, with the success of Spider-Man: Homecoming this summer, we have to believe that the people at Sony films will try to make the most out of their rights to the Spider-Man and all his arsenal of villains. They have their hands full with Spider-Man as is, not to mention the fact that they still own the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four universe and the Marvel characters that come along with it.
Now, we’re hearing news that Sony is developing a ‘Morbius: The Living Vampire’ movie with the writers of Power Rangers to helm the script. According to the Hollywood Reporter:
The studio is developing Morbius, a feature project centered on Spider-Man antihero Morbius the Living Vampire. Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who worked on the recent Power Rangers movie, wrote the script, which was just submitted to the studio after a secret development process.
Although details of Sony’s take on the character are unknown, we can trust that both Sazama and Sharpless have had their fair share of work in ‘Vampire’ related movies. They helmed the script for Dracula: Untold and now with Morbius coming to fruition, things could be picking up in the Sony superhero universe.
