The changes to the Philadelphia 76ers’ front office keep coming. The Sixers announced two new additions and a new promotion in their management. Marc Eversley was named the Vice President of Player Personnel, Ned Cohen was announced as the Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff, and Brandon Williams was promoted to Vice President of Basketball Administration. The trio will join Bryan Colangelo who was recently named the President of Basketball Operations.
Eversley has been in the same role with the Washington Wizards for the past three years. He will be managing the Sixers’ scouting department and will be involved in roster decisions.
Cohen has been a member of the NBA since 2004, focusing mainly on competitive operations. He will be serving a role as the chief player in interdepartmental planning and organization in Philadelphia.
Williams has been with the 76ers since 2013. That role has seen him serve as the general manager of the team’s D-League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers. While he will continue to serve in that capacity, Williams will now also be involved in Philadelphia’s player development.
Colangelo had the following to say about the moves:
“I am very excited about the opportunity to bolster our front office through the addition of two eminently respected and seasoned professionals,” said Colangelo. “Marc’s distinguished eye for talent along with his ability to relate to and connect with players has set him apart in such an important sector of the industry. Ned’s overall knowledge of the league, his expertise on a wide range of topics, and his ability to manage high-level issues will be very beneficial to our management team.”
There are many question marks around the 76ers especially after the resignation of Sam Hinkie. There is a long road to follow for Philadelphia to become a contending team again. That path starts this summer under new management for the Sixers.
