The Philadelphia 76ers have been really really lucky when it comes to their point guards in recent years. Michael Carter-Williams? Rookie of the Year. Tony Wroten? That boy was on fire before he got injuried. Kendall Marshall had a good stretch that one time. And now they have Ish Smith. From teetering on the D-League/NBA tightrope, to finally established himself.
But now the question is. Has (free agent) Ish Smith done enough for the Sixers to invest in him for the long-term?
“To me, it’s still amazing that when he showed up in Phoenix an hour before game time that he put a uniform on and stepped out on the floor and led a team to a win, a badly needed win. That was a shot of adrenaline for sure, and it’s carried over.” — Jerry Colangelo
“I love him. I think Ish is a guy that people don’t give him his credit. I think he’s done a great job all season.” — Russell Westbrook (former teammate)
I honestly believe Tony Wroten was legit before he got injuried. He had a brief but stupidly bright light and hopefully he hasn’t lost a step. Ish Smith, I don’t have the same feeling. I think they should go for Mike Conley who is established as a good guard but if you’re going to lock up Ish, don’t break the bank for it.
