In the coming year, a number of popular film franchises will release the latest chapter of their long-running sagas. Creed III, Scream VI and the newest House Party film will all hit theaters in the first quarter of the new year. Adding to the slate of film franchises returning to theaters, Saw is set to head back to AMC, Regal, iPic and Alamo Drafthouses around the country. Details regarding the film’s plot remain under wraps, but a few casting updates have fans excited.
Collider has reported that actress Shawnee Smith may appear in the tenth Saw film. Smith appeared as Amanda Young in every Saw film from 2004 through 2010. Since then, she’s taken a step back from Hollywood, limiting her work to appearances in Anger Management, Believe, Savannah Surprise and a few other projects.
Smith is not the only star expected to return to the franchise. Tobin Bell is reportedly interested in returning to his role as the infamous Jigsaw killer. Synnve Macody Lund, Steven Brand, and Michael Beach are also reportedly interested in joining the cast.
Following the success of the Chris Rock-led Spiral, Saw X is expected to hit theaters in late 2023.
