Saturday Night Live will look a bit different when it returns to NBC this fall. In May, Pete Davidson and Kate McKinnon announced their departure from the legendary variety show. Nearly four months later, Aristotle Athari, Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor announced their departure from the show. To top it all off, Lindsay Shookus exited as the show’s senior producer. As the show nears its 48th season, Lorne Michaels and company have added four new stars to its cast. This fall, Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker will join the Saturday Night Live fraternity.
Hernandez is Miami comic and producer of Cuban and Dominican heritage who has opened up for Mark Viera, Gilbert Gottfried and others. Kearney is a Los Angeles comic by way of Chicago who has appeared on Comedy Central. Longfellow is a Phoenix native based in Los Angeles who recently contributed to Netflix Is A Joke. Rounding out the new additions, Walker is an Austin, Texas native who moved up to Brooklyn and has made a name for himself in the Big Apple.
“This will be transition year. Change years are always difficult but always exciting. There are new people. There are four new people at least for now,” Michaels told reporters backstage at 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, per Deadline.
The 48th season of Saturday Night Live will kick off on October 1, 2022 via NBC and Peacock. From there, the new cast will return with new shows on October 8, 2022 and October 15, 2022. Check out the first look at the show’s forthcoming season below.
