
Samira Wiley was raised in the biggest city in politics and now she’s dominating in the biggest city in film. The Washington, D.C. native has made her name as an Emmy winning actress who has appeared in both Handmaid’s Tale and Orange Is The New Black. With Orange Is The New Black coming to an end, Wiley has landed her next big role in Hollywood.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the star actress is set to appear in the new Tom Hanks film, Bios. The film is set to center around Finch, played by Hanks. Finch is an ailing inventor faced with his own mortality as the world comes to a crashing end. In his remaining days, he builds a robot that he hopes to teach to become human enough to take care of his dog in his passing.
In addition to Wiley, Caleb Jones is set to appear in the film. Behind the camera, Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik will lead the film. Craig Luck and Ivor Powell will write the script and Kevin Misher will serve as a producer along with Powell. To tie everything together, Robert Zemeckis and Andy Berman will act as executive producers. Universal will end up distributing the new Hanks flick when it arrives in 2020.
