
On Friday, May 23, 2025, Sacha Jenkins reportedly passed away due to complications from multiple system atrophy, a neurodegenerative disorder that can affect both the central nervous system and the autonomic nervous system.
Jenkins is an award-winning journalist, filmmaker, producer, musician and curator. He is the founder of Graphic Scenes and X-plicit Language, one of the first zines dedicated to graffiti art, and co-founder of Beat Down and Ego Trip, two highly influential publications covering Hip-Hop culture. Jenkins later wrote for outlets such as Vibe, Rolling Stone, and Spin and worked on The Boondocks. Not to be forgotten, he served as the creative director for Mass Appeal and worked on documentaries such as 50 Cent: The Origin of Me and Fresh Dressed for CNN.
Jenkins was 53 years old. He was married to Raquel Cepeda and has two children.
