The realms of film and Hip-Hop have always been tied together. Whether it be Ice Cube producing blockbuster hits or J.I.D naming a mixtape series after Leonardo DiCaprio, the two have always been synonymous. Most recently, RZA linked up with the Flatbush Zombies to produce a new record named after the infamous director Quentin Tarantino.
“This song is a dedication to one of our favorite directors, Quentin Tarantino. His movies pioneered another level and style of film making artistry. We are doing the same with our art..continuously expanding the palette of hip hop and music,” RZA said about his latest work.
“I tend to draw my inspiration from more than just music…When we linked up with RZA, one of the first things we spoke about was our affinity for movies. This track is a dedication to Tarantino, a genius not only behind the camera but also with the pen,” Meechy Darko of the Flatbush Zombies added.
The release of “Quentin Tarantino” follows RZA’s latest announcement. The legendary producer’s company, 36 Chambers A.L.C., has established a partnership with MNRK Music Group. Through this partnership, RZA will release records like “Quentin Tarantino” as well as albums like Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater by RZA and DJ Scratch. He also plans to release a collaboration with Joey Bada$$ and his long awaited Bobby Digital album. Before all of that takes place, RZA is here to deliver “Quentin Tarantino” with the Flatbush Zombies. Check out the track below.
