Barbie has found her Ken. Deadline has reported that director Greta Gerwig has landed Ryan Gosling as Ken in the upcoming Barbie film adaptation.
Gerwig’s mission to land Gosling has taken some time. Sources tell Deadline that the actor initially declined the role because of scheduling conflicts. However, things turned around because Gerwig remained persistent as the pre-production process dragged on. Eventually, Gerwig was rewarded with her desired Ken.
Gosling will star alongside Margot Robbie, who is set to play Barbie. After starring in Suicide Squad, Robbie has landed roles in Babylon, Asteroid City, Ruin and Gotham City Sirens. She also has a role in an upcoming project from David O. Russell that will star Rami Malek and Anya Taylor-Joy.
Details regarding the film’s plot remain under wraps. Barbie is currently in development and does not have a release date.
