Heading into 2019, it appears that Shady Records is as strong as ever. Led by Eminem’s surprise album, the label helped put together projects from Westside Gunn, Conway and more. Among the many projects released from the label was Royce Da 5’9’s Book of Ryan. On the studio album, the Detroit native brought in features from J. Cole, Eminem, T-Pain and more. In totality, the project stood out as one of the best of the year. As 2019 kicks into full swing, Royce will be looking to build off of the momentum he picked up in 2018. However, he is still looking to capitalize off of the great body of work he put out in 2018.
This week, Royce Da 5’9 put out visuals for one of the most powerful tracks on Book of Ryan, “Cocaine”. On the heartfelt track, Royce digs deep to discuss his family’s history with drug use. Musically, Royce also takes a different route by singing a bit. Visually, the “Cocaine” video tugs at your heart strings as it portrays decades of hurt, addiction and ultimate triumph. Check out the full video above and be sure to check out the full album, Book of Ryan.
