Rosario Dawson has been cast in the upcoming Netflix series Marvel’s Daredevil.
Marvel head of television Jeph Loeb has announced that Dawson will play a Hell’s Kitchen advocate who finds her life intertwined with the exploits of lawyer-turned-vigilante Daredevil [Charlie Cox].
Loeb said in a statement:
“Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for Marvel’s Daredevil.
“Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”
Marvel Television also recently confirmed that Vincent D’Onofrio will portray crime boss Wilson Fisk, the archenemy of Daredevil who is nicknamed the Kingpin.
Steven S. DeKnight of Spartacus: Blood and Sand is the showrunner for Marvel’s Daredevil, which will be the first in a series of superhero shows that will culminate in a Defenders miniseries.
Marvel’s Daredevil will premiere in 2015.
