Bruce Wayne still has unfinished business in the city of Gotham. Variety has reported that Robert Pattinson will reprise the role of Batman in a sequel to the 2022 hit film, The Batman. At this time, it is unclear when the film will begin production or who will play the superhero’s chief adversary. However, Erik Davis of Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes has reported that “[Matt Reeves] and the entire team is returning.”
The Batman has proved to be a major hit for Warner Bros. in 2022. Led by Pattinson Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano, the film pulled in $134 million domestically and enjoyed the biggest opening weekend of 2022. Only Spider-Man: No Way Home has outperformed The Batman at the box office during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moving forward, Warner Bros. will look to duplicate the success of The Batman with the release of Creed III, Elvis and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Not to mention, Warner Bros. and HBO Max are gearing up to release Batgirl later this year. Michael Keaton and Leslie Grace are set to star in the on-demand film.
