According to a report from Variety, Riz Ahmed looks set to join the Spidey-Verse over at Sony. Justin Kroll at Variety is reporting that the talks are still “early” though several other sources have come forward with even more specific information in regard to the casting. With The Tracking Board stating that Ahmed had auditioned for the role of ‘Carnage’ but it is up in the air as to whether or not that will be who he ends up playing.
Regardless of who Ahmed ends up playing if he joins the project he’ll bring style and grace to the film overall. Everything Ahmed has touched over the past year has seemed to turn to gold. During that time Ahmed has starred in ‘Rogue One‘, ‘The Night Of’ and even had a small but impactful stint on the final season of ‘Girls’. With Riz Ahmed’s star on the rise, it makes sense for Sony to want to get into business with the actor. One could assume that any deal Ahmed signs will lock him up for multiple films and it seems as if Sony is going full steam ahead with the adjunct Spidey-Verse so it could be possible to see Ahmed in multiple films in the universe going forward. We’ll keep you posted on more ‘Venom‘ news as it develops.
‘Venom’ is set to debut in theatres in October of 2018.
