Rita Ora will be starring in Jake Gyllenhaal’s upcoming boxing drama, Southpaw.
The singer will star as a bruised and battered drug addict in the film that follows boxer Billy ‘The Great’ Hope [Gyllenhall], whose life unravels after his wife Maureen [Rachel McAdams] is killed, and he’s left to raise their daughter alone.
Ora spoke about her role to German Glamour magazine:
”It was an incredible experience. Jake made it very easy for me.
“The role that I play is indeed very far away from my real life but this role made me see a few things differently now.
“To be honest I needed a lot of coaching and some speech training, because I had to have a certain accent.
“It was really great to go into a completely different world but it was not always easy.”
Ora most recently starred in Fifty Shades of Grey and Fast & Furious 6.
Southpaw hits theaters on July 31.
