Rumors are circulating around the NBA that Ricky Rubio’s camp is trying to push a trade to get the point guard out of Minnesota. Rubio, himself, addressed those reports yesterday saying he doesn’t want to leave the Timberwolves.
“I really want to make it work here,” Rubio told Jon Krawczynski of the AP
Rubio also then told Fox News Latino that at no point did he ever want to leave the Timberwolves and that he’s excited for the future of the franchise.
“Having the No. 1 pick in the draft is going to help us even more of making the playoffs next season,” Rubio said. “We have a very good nucleus and on a path to future success.”
Rubio only played in 22 games this season after dealing with an ankle injury.
The Timberwolves had the worst record in the league this season (16-66) and won the NBA Draft Lottery Tuesday night securing them the top pick. With a core of Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, Rubio, either Jahlil Okafor or Karl-Anthony Towns and the leadership of Kevin Garnett, the future could be very bright for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
