Rating: 8.5/10
Ragnarok is here. The 3rd instalment of Marvel’s God of Thunder brings a new light on Liam Hemsworth and his portrayal of Thor. This was a intergalactic film that had the same type of humour as Guardians of the Galaxy mixed with the likes of Avengers-esque action scenes and it made for an awesome movie. This superhero team-up which featured the likes of Valykrie, Loki, Thor and his ‘friend from work’, the incredible Hulk and it made for the best Thor movie out of all of the instlaments. It’s for that reason we’re giving this movie a 8.5 out of 10 rating.
When it came to the comedy; this could easily be one of the funniest Marvel movies out to date. Mark Ruffalo’s portryal of the green monster was the best on screen performance of the character yet and one big thing…. THE HULK CAN TALK! The back and forth banter between Thor and Hulk made for a perfect superhero team-up movie. That same banter; carried on through characters like Valkyrie, who was played marvellously by Tessa Thompson and Tom Hiddleston who reprised his role as the mischievous Loki. Another supporting character who I’m hoping re-appears in the MCU is the Gangmaster played by the quirky Jeff Goldblum, who is the ruler of Planet Hulk when Thor arrives.
Despite being just an overall fun movie, Thor still kept true to its superhero roots for dedicated Marvel fans. We were introduced to Sacar (aka Planet Hulk), the Valkyrie (who are the women warriors of Asgard) and Hela (played by Cate Blanchett), the goddess of death and sister of Thor. Trying to claim her rightful role of Queen of Asgard, she takes over the planet and threatens the people in it. Desperate to stop his sister, Thor bands a team together to fight her off.
The movie is full of teasers for what is to come next in the Avengers movie and even features a surprise appearance from a ‘strange’ superhero in the Marvel universe. Taika Waititi’s directing in this film was outstanding and the improvisational tone of the script made the movie even better. If you’re a fan of Marvel movies, this is a must watch. It had a little bit of everything for everyone; humour, action, death, family and even orgies. This is a 100% must watch.
