Some stars are made and others are born. Reuben Vincent is the latter. If he wants to be called Reuben Vince Carter, Reuther Vandross or Martin Reuther, it doesn’t matter. Regardless of his nickname, the talent the same. Rapping under the moniker, Esau, the North Carolina native caught the attention of 9th Wonder at the age of 13. Since then, he’s been making his way through the industry, one bar at a time.
His last project, Myers Park, dropped in 2017. It featured his undeniable talent along with bravado of a 16-year-old teenager trying to make a name for himself. In the three years following the project, Vincent graduated from high school, went off to college and toured with fellow North Carolina native, Rapsody. Now, he’s back with his latest work, Boy Meets World.
In just eight tracks, the rising star takes you through his journey from adolescence to young adulthood. As he puts it, he’s growing into his own.
“Knowledge of self has been surrounding me these past couple years. I’m growing into my own. I’m learning myself, and I understand who I am now. I’m just putting that back into the music,” he told DJ Booth.
With more time inside the house than ever, it’s always nice to discover a new artist. Check out Vincent’s Boy Meets World above now and be sure to go back to 2017’s Myers Park as well.
