Guess who’s coming to dinner? Just last week, former President Donald Trump had a few interesting dinner guests. First, his associate, Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, walked through the door. Then, a white nationalist by the name of Nick Fuentes joined him and Trump.
“So I help a seriously troubled man, who just happens to be black, Ye (Kanye West), who has been decimated in his business and virtually everything else,” Trump stated, per The Hill.
“And who has always been good to me, by allowing his request for a meeting at Mar-a-Lago, alone, so that I can give him very much needed ‘advice.’”
While the former President claims that he did not invite Fuentes or know who he was, many Republican lawmakers are not inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. Most recently, Republican Senator Bill Cassidy logged in to Twitter to offer his thoughts regarding Trump’s recent dinner party.
“President Trump hosting racist antisemites for dinner encourages other racist antisemites. These attitudes are immoral and should not be entertained,” Cassidy tweeted.
“This is not the Republican Party.”
Trump’s dinner guest, Nick Fuentes, has been labeled a “white supremacist” by the Department of Justice. He has also spread “racist and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.” Given his reputation on Capitol Hill, the Republican Party was not the only entity to criticize Trump and his dinner guest. Members of the Biden administration have also offered their thoughts.
“Bigotry, hate, and antisemitism have absolutely no place in America – including at Mar-A-Lago,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates said, per Axios.
“Holocaust denial is repugnant and dangerous, and it must be forcefully condemned.”
