It appears the Nick Young Era in Los Angeles is near the end. It was reported earlier in the off-season that the Lakers wanted to move Young but that time appears to be now according to Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report.
I would frankly be surprised if Nick Young is on the Lakers’ roster at the start of the season. They’ve been trying to trade him for a while. They’re still trying to trade him. They are willing to even buy him out if necessary to move on.
If no team has traded for the shooting guard at this point in the off-season the likely scenario is waivers.
If the Lakers waive Young by August 31 they can stretch out his 2016-2017 salary which would make things a lot cheaper on them. It would make the most sense for the Lakers to waive Swaggy P and stretch his salary.
It is a real shame Young likely won’t be a Laker this year, He is looking forward to working things out with D’Angelo Russell.
Russell of course recorded Young on Snapchat talking about cheating on his wife. In Kobe Bryant’s farewell season this story took center stage and even created D’Angelo Russell trade rumors.
If Nick Young is indeed waived by the Lakers, his three years in Los Angeles weren’t successful, averaged 13 points a game while taking 10 shots a game. But it was sure fun to watch.
